YOUNG COMPANY

AUDITION DATES:

May 9, 2026 12:00-8:00PM
June 20, 2026 • 12:00-8:00PM

  • #1 PREPARE TWO SONGS OF YOUR CHOICE.

    • One of your selections must be from a musical.

    • 32-bar cuts of each song (1-1.5 minutes per song).

    • An accompanist will be provided for all in-person auditions. You may bring sheet music double sided, in a binder for them to play for you OR bring an instrumental track on your own device (we will have a speaker). *Singing with the accompanist is always encouraged.

    • All applicants will be asked questions to help us understand if the program is the right match.

#2 PARTICIPATE IN A GROUP DANCE CALL.

    • Bring a change of clothes – choose something you (or your child) can move in comfortably.

    • Runners or jazz shoes are recommended.

The audition panel will use the following criteria to evaluate each audition:

    Talent and experience
    Preparedness
    Performance skills
    Willingness to take risks
    Ability to apply redirection
    Professionalism (attire, etiquette, maturity, etc.)
Reason for auditioning (you will be asked this question in your audition)

Should you wish to book an audition coaching with an FAYC faculty member prior to your audition, please email info@firstactyouth.ca for more information.

  • Have you read the 2025-2026 Company Handbook?
Have you reviewed the audition requirements?

Do you have your material ready to go?

After your audition: After thoughtful discussion and careful consideration of your audition, our panel will reach a final decision. You’ll receive an email with either an offer of admission -or- a recommendation to join one of our musical theatre classes, with the opportunity to audition again for a future year.
