AUDITION DATES

May 21, 2026 • 4:00-10:00PM
June 20, 2026 • 12:00-8:00PM

Please review all dropdown information carefully before submitting your audition.
Participation requires full commitment, and availability for all mandatory dates is essential.

1

  • You are required to read the 2026-2027 Company Handbook before booking your audition.

It is the responsibility of each student and/or their family to familiarize themselves with its contents.

Registrants will be asked to confirm that they’ve read the handbook when submitting their registration form. By confirming on the form that the handbook has been read, participants acknowledge that they understand and agree to abide by the policies, procedures, and expectations outlined within.

2

  • #1 PREPARE TWO SONGS OF YOUR CHOICE.

    • One of your selections must be from a musical.

    • 32-bar cuts of each song (1-1.5 minutes per song).

    • An accompanist will be provided for the auditions. You are required to bring sheet music double sided, in a binder, and in the correct key.

    • No a capella singing or pre-recorded tracks.

    • There is no monologue required for this audition so it’s important to show acting through your song selections.

    • All applicants will be asked questions to help us understand if the program is the right match.

#2 PARTICIPATE IN A GROUP DANCE CALL.

    • Bring a change of clothes – choose something you/your child can move in comfortably.

    • Runners or jazz shoes are recommended.

The audition panel will use the following criteria to evaluate each audition:

    Talent and experience
    Preparedness
    Performance skills
    Willingness to take risks
    Ability to apply redirection
    Professionalism (attire, etiquette, maturity, etc.)
Reason for auditioning (you will be asked this question in your audition)

Should you wish to book an audition coaching with an FAYC faculty member prior to your audition, or wish to ensure the sheet music you’re bringing is correct, please email info@firstactyouth.ca for more information.

3

  • Have you read the 2026-2027 Company Handbook?
Have you reviewed the audition requirements?

    You’re ready to book!

After your audition: After thoughtful discussion and careful consideration of your audition, our panel will reach a final decision. You’ll receive an email with either an offer of admission -or- a recommendation to join one of our musical theatre classes, with the opportunity to audition again for a future year.

If you are not accepted into the program this time, we’ll be happy to provide you with feedback to support your continued growth and help you prepare for your next audition.
